This Canada 150 exhibit celebrates Indigenous northerners’ contributions to policing and the role they played in the bridging of two cultures.

YELLOWKNIFE (June 14, 2017) – Two airborne geophysical surveys will provide additional insight for prospectors and mineral development companies interested in exploration in the Slave Geological Province of the Northwest Territories (NWT). The studies, developed by the Northwest Territories Geological Survey (NTGS), provide detailed airborne magnetic and electromagnetic survey data from the promising region.

YELLOWKNIFE (JUNE 7, 2017) – Nearly $1 million is being invested in the future of Northwest Territories (NWT) exploration and prospecting thanks to the Government of the Northwest Territories’ (GNWT) signature incentive program.

The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment announced today the 2017-2018 funding recipients under the Mining Incentive Program (MIP) administered by their Northwest Territories Geological Survey division.

Seven corporate recipients and six prospectors were awarded funding for this coming year.

YELLOWKNIFE (April 3, 2017) — This year’s biggest fur auction yielded strong results for Northwest Territories trappers as they will receive their largest payout in two years.

The annual Saga, American Legend and Fur Harvesters fur auction in Helsinki, Finland drew nearly half-a-million in sales for NWT wild furs sold under the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT)-managed Genuine Mackenzie Valley Fur (GMVF) brand — nearly doubling the total from 2016’s auction.

YELLOWKNIFE (March 3, 2017) – Minister of Finance Robert C. McLeod today outlined further adjustments by the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) to the proposed 2017-18 operating budget.

Changes proposed in a statement today by the Minister include increased funding for homecare, a program for youth in crisis, additional funding for the Anti-Poverty Fund, Mineral Incentive Program, Community Access Road Program and for freight costs associated with the fishing industry.
