The new brand will be formally launched Friday evening at the NWT Film Commission gala celebrating the 11th Annual Yellowknife’s International Film Festival.

YELLOWKNIFE (September 25, 2017) – Tourism numbers reached record heights in the Northwest Territories (NWT) in 2016-17. For the first time, visitor spending surpassed the $200 million mark and over 100,000 visitors travelled to the NWT.

The results bode well for the overall goal of Tourism 2020, the GNWT’s five year strategy for tourism development, which seeks to increase the value of the NWT tourism industry to $207 million annually by 2021.

YELLOWKNIFE (August 2, 2017)— The Northwest Territories is one step closer to developing mineral legislation that reflects the unique circumstances of the mineral sector in the North, and is seeking input from northerners into the development of a Minerals Resources Act.

The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) has begun public stakeholder engagements on the development of the Territory’s first homegrown mineral legislation, and has launched an interactive engagement tool to help solicit feedback.

The studies, developed by the Northwest Territories Geological Survey (NTGS), provide detailed airborne magnetic and electromagnetic survey data from the promising region.

YELLOWKNIFE (JUNE 7, 2017) – Nearly $1 million is being invested in the future of Northwest Territories (NWT) exploration and prospecting thanks to the Government of the Northwest Territories’ (GNWT) signature incentive program.

The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment announced today the 2017-2018 funding recipients under the Mining Incentive Program (MIP) administered by their Northwest Territories Geological Survey division.

Seven corporate recipients and six prospectors were awarded funding for this coming year.
