Current Status
Territorial State of Emergency
The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has extended the Territorial State of Emergency until September 11, 2023.
This allows the GNWT to acquire and deploy the necessary resources to support emergency management and protect the health and safety of Northwest Territories residents.
This measure has ensured that the Emergency Management Organization (EMO) is better equipped to support the GNWT, community governments, and public agencies involved in emergency management plans and programs under the Emergency Management Act.

Re-entry Update
Yesterday 268 residents were flown home on repatriation flights. 676 vehicles crossed the Deh Cho Bridge northbound yesterday. We do not know how many people were in those 676 vehicles, as every vehicle will differ. It should also be noted that this number includes commercial vehicle carrying supplies, not necessarily residents.
If you need a flight home, the registration system will be closing on Friday, September 8, at 8:00pm for Yellowknife and area residents. The GNWT intends to send the last Charter from Edmonton and Calgary locations on Sunday September 10. We know that there have been challenges with confirming flight details and we have been working hard to address this issue by providing multiple ways to contact you.
