The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has begun an evaluation of the Child and Youth Counselling (CYC) program, formerly called the Child and Youth Care Counselling (CYCC) program.

Child and Youth Counsellors are in Northwest Territories (NWT) schools and communities to provide direct mental health and wellness services to children, youth and their families.

The GNWT wants to improve access to mental health and wellness supports to ensure programs and services are meeting the needs of students.

Monsieur le President, as we enter the month of March, we recognize Rendez-vous de la Francophonie. As the Minister Responsible for the Official Languages Act, it is encouraging to see such awareness, involvement, and celebration of all of the Northwest Territories’ 11 official languages.

The Aurora College Mandate Agreement was released today by the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT). This agreement, between the GNWT and Aurora College, sets out the shared strategic priorities, the scope of activities, and measurements that will be reported by the College.

The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has released its new graduation requirements for the renewed Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 (JK-12) curriculum.

In keeping with the commitment the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has made to ensure Northwest Territories (NWT) residents are kept informed during the transformation of Aurora College to a polytechnic university, NWT residents are advised that updates have been made to the critical milestone timeline for Aurora College Transformation.

Individual Award - Karen Wasicuna, Yellowknife

The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has joined the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot, which is designed to help employers in Canada connect with and hire skilled refugees overseas.

The GNWT has opted to participate in this pilot to give employers another option to address the realities of the labour market in the Northwest Territories (NWT) and Canada. Through the pilot, employers will be able to access a new pool of potential employees.

Mr. Speaker, today we are acknowledging Pink Shirt Day, a day to reflect on how we treat one another.

Two brave teenagers in Nova Scotia sparked Pink Shirt Day 15 years ago, after a male student in their school was harassed for wearing a pink shirt. The next morning, David Shepherd and Travis Price handed out pink shirts to all the male students. Now, Pink Shirt Day is a call-to-action for schools, communities and workplaces to wear pink in solidarity against bullying.
