The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is expanding the criteria for forgiveness of debts under Housing NWT’s legacy mortgage program.
Residents with legacy Housing NWT mortgages may be eligible to have their remaining mortgage forgiven if they meet one of the following criteria:

Mr. Speaker, Housing NWT continues to repair, retrofit, and construct housing across the NWT at a rapid pace, establishing a strong economic foundation in the NWT and more homes for Northerners, two of this government’s top priorities.
The Government of the Northwest Territories, through Housing NWT, is partnering with Ne’rahten Development Ltd., the business arm of the Yamoga Land Corporation, to support the K’áhsho Got’ı̨nę Trades Centre in Fort Good Hope. This partnership will help improve housing conditions in the Sahtu region by building local trades capacity and supporting community-led housing solutions. It also helps address regional housing needs while strengthening the local economy.

The Acho Dene Koe First Nation (ADK FN) Chief Eugene Hope and Minister Responsible for Housing Northwest Territories (Housing NWT) Honourable Lucy Kuptana have signed a Memorandum of Agreement on housing between ADK FN and the Government of the Northwest Territories.
This Memorandum of Agreement formalizes cooperation between Housing NWT and ADK FN. This agreement builds on past partnerships to guide joint work on housing priorities.
Two new, high-value data products are now available through the Northwest Territories Geological Survey (NTGS), offering a level of information that has never been accessible in the Northwest Territories. The Permafrost Database Project and the Pine Point Geophysical Survey will directly support mineral exploration, research and land-use planning across the territory.
