Minister of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE) Caitlin Cleveland met with Education Leaders in Yellowknife on April 10, 2024.
The event marked the first meeting with Education Leaders since Minister Cleveland assumed the portfolio of Education, Culture and Employment. It was also the first meeting for James Fulford, the new Deputy Minister of ECE.
Yellowknife (April 1, 2024) – The Intergovernmental Council on Land and Resource Management (IGC) acknowledges the 10th anniversary of the Devolution Agreement and the accompanying Intergovernmental Agreement on Lands and Resources Management. This was a historic milestone that provided the Northwest Territories with greater control over lands, resources, and programs, allowing for more responsive and effective decision-making that reflects the unique needs and priorities of the territory.

Education, Culture and Employment (ECE) Minister R.J. Simpson met with Northwest Territories (NWT) education leaders on June 14, for their final meeting of the 2022-23 school year.
Minister Simpson opened the in-person meeting with updates on ECE initiatives, including a presentation from a delegate with the Minister’s Youth Forum on Education. Vincent Gagne, a student from École Allain St-Cyr, presented a pitch he developed to create a French Association for youth across the NWT.
