Online Appointment Booking Offered at the Yellowknife Driver and Vehicle Office

Clients in Yellowknife are now able to book their driver and vehicle services appointments online at: https://www.gov.nt.ca/DriverAppointment.

This new option allows clients to see available time slots and book appointments at their own convenience, as well as manage their appointments using the cancellation and rebooking options.

Clients are reminded to come to their appointments fully prepared and with all required documentation.

2022 NWT Parks and Campground Opening Dates

Northwest Territories Parks and Campgrounds will open beginning May 13, 2022. 

This year online reservations are being accepted as of: 

  • April 5 at 10:00 am - Prelude Lake campground 
  • April 6 at 10:00 am - Reid Lake campground
  • April 7 at 10:00 am - Fred Henne campground  
  • April 8 at 10:00 am - all campgrounds 


Campsites at the following campgrounds are not available for booking through the online reservation system, but on a first come, first served basis at the gatehouse:

ECE Minister R.J. Simpson announces appointment of new Aurora College president

Minister R.J. Simpson today announced that Dr. Glenda Vardy Dell will be appointed president of Aurora College, effective April 4, 2022. 

Dr. Vardy Dell has been with Aurora College since 2019 and has served in the roles of senior advisor to the president/interim director of the Center for Teaching and Learning as well as vice president of Education and Training.  Dr. Vardy Dell brings a wealth of experience in the fields of health sciences and post secondary leadership to her new role.

New GNWT ‘Active Offer’ video shows how to access GNWT French language services

The Government of Northwest Territories (GNWT) Department of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE) has released a new instructional video to help the public understand how to access French language services and how to use the active offer.  An active offer is a greeting that informs the public that they may communicate in either French or English when requesting a service from the GNWT. Its purpose is to ensure that an individual feels comfortable expressing themselves in either language.

Public Health Emergency Extended Through April 1

Minister of Health and Social Services, Julie Green has extended the territory-wide Public Health Emergency under the Northwest Territories’ Public Health Act on the advice of Chief Public Health Officer (CPHO) Dr. Kami Kandola, effective March 29, 2022.

The latest extension continues through March 31, 2022 at 11:59:59pm. 

The Public Health Emergency is required to continue to decisively respond to shifts in the NWT’s own public health situation, and maintain preventative measures.

Funding proposals are now being accepted for the Supporting Child Inclusion and Participation program

Yearly funding proposals are now being accepted for the Supporting Child Inclusion and Participation (SCIP) program. The funding is intended to reduce barriers and increase participation in early learning and child care programs for children from birth to six years of age with diverse needs. The deadline to apply is April 25, 2022, at 5 p.m.
