Diane Archie: 2030 Energy Strategy Update

Mr. Speaker, in 2018, the Government of the Northwest Territories released the 2030 Energy Strategy, our roadmap to supporting secure, affordable, and sustainable energy in the NWT.

Guided by the Energy Strategy, the Climate Change Strategic Framework and the GNWT’s mandate, we are working to increase the use of alternative and renewable energy and reduce the territory’s greenhouse gas emissions.

Diane Archie: Celebrating Engineers and Geoscientists in the Northwest Territories

Mr. Speaker, the knowledge and skills of professional engineers and geoscientists are vital in meeting the priorities of our government and in supporting the quality of life for Northerners.

As Minister of Infrastructure, I know how important these professions are to achieving our Mandate priorities, especially in making strategic infrastructure investments that connect communities and increasing the use of alternative and renewable energy.

Mr. Speaker, the Government of the Northwest Territories has mandate commitments to strengthen its leadership and authority on climate change and to ensure that climate change impacts are specifically considered when making government decisions.

Mr. Speaker, the Department of Infrastructure recognizes the challenge climate change presents, and are the taking necessary steps to ensure public infrastructure is more resilient to the impacts of a warming planet and can meet the current and future needs of NWT residents.

Mr. Speaker, at the beginning of the 19th Legislative Assembly, this government established its mandate of 22 priorities set by all Members and based on what they heard from their constituents.

Two of those mandate priorities are to increase employment in small communities and to make strategic infrastructure investments.

Mr. Speaker, the Northwest Territories transportation system is critical to connect residents and communities, to support the economy and to allow for the delivery of goods and services. 

Our government is committed to improving, maintaining and expanding our highway system to offer safe and reliable infrastructure that can adapt to the effects of time and climate change, while also creating training and employment opportunities for our residents.

La semaine dernière, des membres du Conseil exécutif et des représentants du gouvernement des Territoires du Nord-Ouest (GTNO) ont assisté à la conférence Roundup de l’Association for Mineral Exploration (AME) qui s’est déroulée à Vancouver afin de promouvoir le secteur de l’exploration et de l’exploitation minières des TNO.

Journée de l’industrie 2023 du GTNO

À l’occasion de la Journée de l’industrie 2023, le gouvernement des Territoires du Nord-Ouest (GTNO) publie une présentation détaillant les dépenses d’immobilisations prévues pour l’exercice financier à venir.

Tous les ans, la Journée de l’industrie permet aux entrepreneurs et aux organismes qui souhaitent faire des affaires avec le GTNO de s’informer sur les projets d’immobilisations planifiés lors du prochain exercice et les budgets prévisionnels qui leur sont alloués.
