Operations and Maintenance Contract Awarded for New Air Tanker Fleet

YELLOWKNIFE (December 2, 2016) – Buffalo Airways Ltd. has been awarded the contract to provide operation and maintenance of the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) Air Tractor 802A FireBoss Amphibious Water Bomber (FireBoss) fleet.

The Government of the Northwest Territories signed the contract with Joe McBryan, President of Buffalo Airways Ltd yesterday.

The contract is for a five-year period, covering the 2017-2018 to 2020-2021 wildland fire seasons with an option to extend the contract for additional five years.

Northwest Territories Housing Corporation Announces Engagement Survey

YELLOWKNIFE (December 1, 2016) – The Northwest Territories Housing Corporation (NWTHC) will be conducting a comprehensive survey that will help renew its strategic actions.

Entitled Engagement on Strategic Action Renewal, the survey will collect broad, wide-ranging input from residents and stakeholders to help the NWTHC focus housing programs and services in the short-term, and assist with long-term planning activities as it strives toward the vision of affordable, adequate and suitable housing for all Northwest Territories (NWT) residents. 

New Workers' Advisor Appointed for the Northwest Territories

Yellowknife (November 30, 2016) – Minister Responsible for the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC) Glen Abernethy announced the appointment of Mr. Patrick Scott as the Workers’ Advisor for the Northwest Territories today.

Mr. Scott comes with an extensive educational background and many years of experience, ranging from media and production to expert negotiator and mediator.

GNWT releases salary ranges for all public servant positions

YELLOWKNIFE (November 18, 2016) – Starting in mid-November, the Government of the Northwest Territories will make salary ranges for all public servant positions publicly available.

In its mandate, the GNWT committed to proactively improving openness and transparency. While information about employee salary ranges has always been available to the public through job descriptions, making this information available in a single, centralized source on the Department of Human Resources website will make it more accessible for NWT residents.

3rd Intergovernmental Meeting between Sahtu Secretariat Inc. and GNWT

YELLOWKNIFE (November 18, 2016) – Cabinet Members of the 18th Legislative Assembly and Premier Bob McLeod met with the Sahtu Secretariat Incorporated Chairperson Ethel Blondin-Andrew, Sahtu Dene Council Chiefs, leaders of the Sahtu Land Corporations and Délı̨nę Got’ı̨nę Government  in Yellowknife the afternoon of November 16. 

This was the third meeting of the Sahtu Secretariat Incorporated (SSI) and the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) since they signed the Intergovernmental Memorandum of Understanding on June 24, 2015. 

2nd Intergovernmental Meeting between Salt River First Nation and GNWT

YELLOWKNIFE (November 18, 2016) – Cabinet Members of the 18th Legislative Assembly, Premier Bob McLeod and Minister Louis Sebert met with the Salt River First Nation, Chief Frieda Martselos and Council Members in Yellowknife the morning of November 16. 

This was the second meeting of the Salt River First Nation (SRFN) and the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) since they signed the Intergovernmental Memorandum of Understanding on August 25, 2015.
