Madam Speaker, Housing Northwest Territories marks its 50th year. With our Strategic renewal underway, Housing NWT is seeking to make improvements to the way we do business, and in particular focus on building and establishing stronger partnerships.
Leading up to National Housing Day on November 22, I would like to share with you some exciting things happening as well as celebrating the people who have made a difference in supporting Housing’s work over the years.

Mr. Speaker, partnerships are key to addressing the territory’s housing crisis.
Through partnerships with Indigenous governments and communities, we are effectively finding housing solutions that recognize the unique needs of communities across the NWT. As we advance the Housing NWT renewal strategy, I am pleased to report that these partnerships are already leading to real, meaningful work that will improve quality of life for residents.

Mr. Speaker, today I am pleased to acknowledge the efforts of Indigenous governments and the federal government on their approach to addressing housing and infrastructure needs. I would like to congratulate the Gwich’in Tribal Council, the Tłı̨chǫ Government and the Délı̨nę Got’ıne Government, on the recent federal funding announcement of $78.6 million for community infrastructure and housing.
