Inauguration de logements grâce à la nouvelle Initiative de soutien aux logements communautaires

Fort Smith, le 21 mars 2018 – Madame Caroline Cochrane, ministre responsable de la Société d’habitation des Territoires du Nord-Ouest (SHTNO) et de la lutte contre l’itinérance, a assisté aujourd’hui à l’inauguration officielle de deux logements construits par la Première Nation de Salt River grâce à la nouvelle Initiative de soutien aux logements communautaires.

Caroline Cochrane: Northwest Territories Housing Corporation Mandate Commitment Update and Strategic Renewal

Mr. Speaker, I would like to report on the Government of the Northwest Territories’ progress on its housing-related Mandate commitments and on the Strategic Renewal process currently underway at the Northwest Territories Housing Corporation.

First, among the mandate commitments  laid out by the Government of the Northwest Territories is a promise to address the cost of living, in part by continuing to implement northern solutions for northern housing and working to address homelessness.

Yellowknife, le 20 décembre 2017 – La ministre responsable de la Société d’habitation des Territoires du Nord-Ouest (SHTNO) et de la lutte contre l’itinérance, Madame Caroline Cochrane, a annoncé aujourd’hui l’inauguration de huit nouvelles unités de logement semi-indépendantes au Centre pour les familles du Nord qui est situé sur l’avenue Franklin, à Yellowknife.

Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to provide you with a report on the Government of the Northwest Territories’ progress on meeting its mandate commitments related to housing.

Under the priority of Cost of Living of the 18th Legislative Assembly, this government is committed to continuing to implement northern solutions for northern housing. Addressing homelessness is part of this commitment.

Robert C. McLeod: Orange Shirt Day

Mr. Speaker, since 2013, September 30th has been marked as Orange Shirt Day, a day for all Canadians to remember the survivors of the residential school system.

Organizers chose an orange shirt as the symbol for that day based on a story told by Phyllis Jack Webstat, a survivor of the St. Joseph Mission Residential School in Williams Lake, BC. In her story, Ms. Webstat tells of having the shiny, new orange shirt her grandmother had given to her being taken away on her first day at residential school.
