Twenty-five organizations received funding to help them maximize the impact of health promotion and prevention activities that support individuals, families, and communities in making positive lifestyle choices.

Today the Minister of Health and Social Services tabled the 2022-2023 Annual Report of the Director of Child and Family Services in the Legislative Assembly. The Annual Report provides a summary of services delivered in the Northwest Territories (NWT) between April 1, 2022, and March 31, 2023. Services include adoption services, family preservation, prevention supports, and protection services, which are available and provided to each of the 33 communities in the NWT.

The Health and Social Services system has a range of options to help Northerners recover their health and well-being. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to share the progress we have made in strengthening our mental health support services. Our focus is on the pressing issue of suicide prevention, as well as our ongoing efforts to enhance the Mental Wellness and Addictions Recovery system.
Today, the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) released its final report outlining the key accomplishments from the GNWT Disability Action Plan 2018-2022.
The Action Plan addresses gaps and barriers identified through a collaborative engagement process involving persons with disabilities, non-government organizations, and other partners. The Action Plan’s objectives were built on the priorities of the NWT Disability Strategic Framework 2017-2027 to advance equity, accessibility, inclusion, and partnership.
Minister of Health and Social Services, Julie Green, released the Child, Youth and Family Services Strategic Direction and Action Plan 2023-2028 today. The Strategic Direction and Action Plan will play an important role in guiding efforts of the Department and Health and Social Services Authorities to keep families together and provide support to children and youth

Minister Responsible for Seniors, Julie Green, released the NWT Seniors’ Strategic Framework today. The Strategic Framework provides a foundation for improving programs, services, and initiatives for seniors to better meet their needs.
The development of the NWT Seniors’ Strategic Framework involved a comprehensive process, including a literature review, analysis of statistical data and engagement with seniors, their caregivers and families, non-government organizations, as well as community and Indigenous Governments.
