GNWT releases an update to Emerging Stronger

Today, Premier Caroline Cochrane tabled an update on Emerging Stronger: Planning our Economic and Social Recovery Together in the Legislative Assembly.

The update to Emerging Stronger highlights the progress the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has made to recover from the pandemic over the course of the past year despite numerous challenges both in terms of the spread of COVID-19 and broader economic uncertainty and social instability.

Residents are invited to join the Platinum Jubilee Celebration as part of the Royal visit

The Government of the Northwest Territories encourages residents to attend public events that will be part of the Royal Tour to honour Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.

Residents are invited to join the Platinum Jubilee Celebration at the Ceremonial Circle, located behind the Joint Task Force North Building.

Passing of former Commissioner Daniel Marion

Premier Caroline Cochrane issued the following statement on the passing of former Commissioner Daniel Marion:

“I was sad to hear about the passing of Daniel Marion, former Commissioner to the Northwest Territories. Mr. Marion dedicated his life to improving the lives of residents in the Northwest Territories, supporting economic growth, and giving his time to make the communities he lived in a better place for everyone.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall to visit the NWT

Northwest Territories Premier Caroline Cochrane has issued the following statement on the upcoming Royal Tour:

“We are honoured that Their Royal Highnesses, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, have chosen to visit the Northwest Territories in May 2022.

“This visit will provide an opportunity for Northerners to demonstrate their unmatched hospitality and to showcase for the world the rich and diverse cultures, languages, and traditions of our territory.

Premier Cochrane attends Arctic Encounter Symposium

Premier Caroline Cochrane is in Anchorage, Alaska this week for the Arctic Encounters Symposium to discuss shared opportunities and challenges with Arctic leaders and policymakers.

It is an opportunity for the Premier to work closely with other Arctic leaders to increase awareness around Arctic security, economic development, infrastructure development, housing, climate change, and women in leadership.
