Construction begins on the Dehk’è Frank Channel Bridge Replacement Project

The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT), in partnership with the Tłı̨chǫ Government and the Government of Canada is celebrating the start of construction on the Dehk’è Frank Channel Bridge Replacement Project.

With $52.5 million from the National Trade Corridors Fund under the Government of Canada, the GNWT has awarded a construction contract for $120.7 million to the Tłı̨chǫ–Kiewit General Partnership (TKGP).  

Collaboration Between Housing NWT and Tłı̨chǫ Investment Corporation Brings New Housing to Whatì, Behchokǫ̀, and Gamètì

Housing NWT, in partnership with the Tłı̨chǫ Investment Corporation, is delivering 10 new housing units in the Tłı̨chǫ Region to support seniors and individuals in Behchokǫ̀, Gamètì, and Whatì.

These duplexes, funded by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC), are designed to provide safe, accessible, and energy-efficient housing, allowing seniors to age in place with dignity and ensuring that single residents have secure, affordable housing.

Intergovernmental Meeting between Tłıchǫ Government and Government of the Northwest Territories

Premier Bob McLeod, Minister Wally Schumann, Minister Alfred Moses and Minister Glen Abernethy of the NWT Executive Council met with the Tłı̨chǫ Government Grand Chief George Mackenzie, Chief Clifford Daniels, Chief David Wedawin, Chief Charlie Football in Behchokǫ̀ on Tuesday, April 16, 2019.
