Caroline Wawzonek, Minister Responsible for the Status of Women, tabled the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) action plan in Response to the Calls for Justice on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ People.

GNWT reviewing incident at the Fort Smith Correctional Complex

The  Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has ordered a review of an incident at the Fort Smith Correctional Complex, where an inmate was inadvertently released from the facility and brought back into custody.

On January 7, 2022, an inmate was released from the Fort Smith Correctional Complex. Following the release from custody, the individual was reporting to and had been under the supervision of a probation officer.

This is why the Government of the Northwest Territories, like many other public and private sector employers in Canada, wants to ensure that public servants are engaged and satisfied at work.
