Guided by Housing Northwest Territories’ (NWT) renewal strategy, the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) will increase funding levels for most of its homeownership repair programs.
The following programs have increased maximum funding from $10,000 to $15,000 per eligible applicant:
- Emergency Repair Program
- Fuel Tank Replacement Program

January 15-21, 2023 is National Non-Smoking Week! This annual event provides education and information to prevent youth and young adults from starting to use tobacco products and helps existing tobacco consumers to quit or limit their intake.

In just one puff of a cigarette, a smoker will inhale as many as 7,000 chemicals into their lungs. Many of the chemicals found in cigarettes, chewing tobacco or vaping products are bad for your health.
The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has launched a new Open Data Portal to provide a single point of access for existing GNWT data resources.
The Open Data Portal makes government-held data available to the public in accessible and user-friendly formats and supports the GNWT’s commitment to release timely and accurate information in a consistent, transparent, and reliable manner.
The Open Data Portal currently includes close to 300 datasets and will be updated quarterly.
The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is working with the federal department of Crown Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) and the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor) to determine the viability of a remediation-based economy in the Northwest Territories (NWT); and how to best position NWT residents and businesses to keep the economic benefits from remediation activities in the territory.
