Earlier this month, the RCMP carried out the largest drug and cash seizure in the history of the Northwest Territories—removing nearly five kilograms of cocaine, over $360,000 in cash, and a dangerous weapon from our streets. This was more than a bust—it was a major disruption to the criminal networks profiting off addiction and harming our communities.

YZF reports 18% increase in passenger traffic

Yellowknife Airport (YZF) is proud to announce a significant milestone with an 18% increase in passenger traffic recorded for 2024 compared to the previous year. This growth reaffirms its status as the primary hub for the Northwest Territories and the North.

In 2024, YZF welcomed 604,000 passengers. This growth was driven by increased regional travel, expanded airline routes, more flight frequencies, and heightened interest in tourism and business opportunities in the area.

Have your say on the proposed regulations for the NWT Builders’ Lien Act

The new legislation was put in place to address modern construction practices. It sets out the legal processes, systems, rights, and remedies for parties involved in construction disputes.

Repairs completed on Deh Cho bridge

Repairs on the Deh Cho Bridge on Highway 3 are now complete, and the bridge has fully reopened to two-lane traffic with no additional restrictions. Drivers are reminded to follow the posted speed limit.

The bridge had been limited to one-lane traffic with reduced speeds since August 2023 due to a broken cable. As part of the repair work, the GNWT replaced the broken cable and the adjustment bars for all 24 cables as a precaution. Additional work included repairing damaged guardrails, replacing lighting, and maintenance work on the north deck joint.
