March 23, 2011 - World Tuberculosis Day, March 24, increases public awareness that tuberculosis remains an epidemic in much of the world.
The rate of TB in the NWT is four to five times the national average – with about 30 per cent of NWT residents who have latent TB infections in their bodies which usually remains inactive and not a risk to the public. TB rates are highest among the Aboriginal population.
March 18, 2011 - A ribbon cutting ceremony was held today to celebrate the completion of the Ulukhaktok Simon Kataoyak Community Centre. The new centre will provide a gathering place for the people of Ulukhaktok that includes a youth centre and community hall for residents and visitors alike.
March 18, 2011 - The Government of the Northwest Territories is joining the Government of Canada and other provinces in responding to last week’s tragic earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
“Our prayers and thoughts are with the people of Japan, and with those NWT residents who have loved ones in the area,” said Premier Floyd K. Roland.
March 17, 2011 - A special group of volunteers today celebrated their third anniversary of service to travellers arriving at the Yellowknife Airport. The Arctic Ambassadors, who are sponsored by the NWT Seniors Society, greet travellers at the airport offering information, advice, and a helping hand.
March 17, 2011 - Premier Floyd K. Roland has signed the Cancun Statement of Federated States and Regional Governments today on behalf of the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT).
March 16, 2011 - NWT youth will demonstrate a sampling of Inuit and Dene games to an international audience at the Los Angeles Times Travel & Adventure Show on March 19 and 20, 2011.
March 10, 2011 - Premier Floyd K. Roland says he hopes today’s endorsement of the Mackenzie Gas Project (MGP) by the Government of Canada is a sign of even greater support to come.

March 7, 2011 - The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) and the former project developer and project engineer on the Deh Cho Bridge project have agreed through mediation to settlement of all claims for money owed under the claimants’ contracts with the Deh Cho Bridge Corporation Ltd. (DCBC). The GNWT assumed responsibility for DCBC’s defence of those claims under the Letter Agreement of June, 2010.
