Call for Nominations for the 2018 NWT Outstanding Volunteer Awards

YELLOWKNIFE (January 16, 2018) - Today, the department of Municipal and Community Affairs (MACA), announced the annual notice of the nomination deadline for the Northwest Territories (NWT) Outstanding Volunteer Awards. This year marks the 28th year of this award, which recognizes and celebrates the remarkable contributions volunteers make in communities across the NWT.

YELLOWKNIFE (January 11, 2018) – As part of its ongoing commitment to increase accountability and transparency, the Government of the Northwest Territories launched the Public Engagement and Transparency website in the spring of 2017. This website responds to direction in the mandate of the Minister of Public Engagement and Transparency to promote awareness about information on government accountability.

Draft NWT Climate Change Strategic Framework available for public comment

YELLOWKNIFE (January 3, 2018) – The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has released a draft NWT Climate Change Strategic Framework (CCSF) for public comment. 

The document lays out the GNWT’s coordinated response to climate change and was developed using input gathered through engagement sessions with Indigenous and community governments, resource management boards, non-government organizations, research institutions, schools, industry and the public.

Request for Proposals released for the Tłı̨chǫ All Season Road

YELLOWKNIFE (December 5, 2017) – The Government of the Northwest Territories has issued its Request for Proposals (RFP) for the construction of the Tłı̨chǫ All-Season Road (TASR).   Three proponents identified through a Request for Qualifications will be invited to submit proposals:  Aurora Access Partners, NAE Transportation Partners and North Star Infrastructure.

Inuvik Access Road - Culvert Replacement

INUVIK (November 21, 2017) - The Department of Infrastructure will be replacing a culvert on the Inuvik Access Road (Hospital Hill) this winter. Though exact dates are to be determined, traffic will likely be disrupted for up to eight weeks.

To answer any questions you have, the Department of Infrastructure will be hosting an open house at the Midnight Sun Complex in Inuvik on Wednesday, November 22 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend.

National day of remembrance for Road Crash Victims

YELLOWKNIFE (November 14, 2017) - On average, five people die on Canada's roads each day. The National Day of Remembrance for Road Crash Victims is Canada’s way to remember and honour these victims and their families.

It is commemorated the third Wednesday each November and is solemn reminder of the often preventative nature of these tragedies. When it comes to driving, avoidable actions can save lives.
