GNWT Promotes Fur, Tourism in China

YELLOWKNIFE (January 8, 2014) – Premier Bob McLeod and Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment David Ramsay will lead a delegation to China to promote the NWT as a trade partner, a follow-up to the successful Council of the Federation Mission to China in 2012.

During that mission, there was significant interest from the mining, energy, furs, and tourism industries about the NWT’s potential to serve the Chinese market, and Premier McLeod committed to support partnerships to expand these industries.

Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment launches new website

YELLOWKNIFE (December 18, 2013) – A new and improved Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) website launched today with a strong focus on client needs.

“ITI has always prided itself on having a strong relationship with our clients, and this new site will be a great way for residents to access the information they need, quickly and easily,” said Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment David Ramsay.  “The new site provides an enhanced web user experience and contains current, accurate information on ITI programs and services.”

To many Canadians, the Northwest Territories is the great white north, land of polar bears, snow, ice, and minus 40 temperatures.  But there is so much more to our territory than that.

I have lived in the Northwest Territories for almost two decades, but I never get tired of viewing the Aurora Borealis in the winter skies. I want to share a story with you about one of these times.

NWT Collaboration to Reduce Drownings Receives National Recognition

YELLOWKNIFE (November 27, 2013) – The GNWT’s collaborative approach to addressing the large number of preventable drownings has been recognized with the Award for Collaborative Excellence from the Canadian Collaborative Centres for Injury Prevention (CCCIP). The award is given every two years to recognize national leadership in injury prevention collaboration.

Grand Opening of New Business Incentive Policy Office in Hay River

HAY RIVER (November 8, 2013) – The Business Incentive Policy office has now officially moved to Hay River from Yellowknife, creating four jobs in the community and marking an important move in the decentralization of jobs from Headquarters to other Northwest Territories communities.

Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment David Ramsay greeted the grand opening attendees today and joined Kim Wilkins, new office manager, in cutting the ribbon at the new office location, located on the second floor of the Royal Bank building.
