The community of Tsiigehtchic was formally established as a Hamlet effective July 1, 2024.
On May 23, 2023, 76% of voters in Tsiigehtchic supported changing the status of the Charter Community Government of Tsiigehtchic to a Hamlet.
The status change results in two distinct and separate government structures: a Hamlet Council and a band council. As a Hamlet, the authority and operations of the community government are more easily defined and separated, and all residents who are eligible to vote are able to vote and/or run for Mayor and Councillor positions.
Municipal and Community Affairs (MACA) Minister Vince McKay has appointed Tom Beaulieu as the new Administrator for the Hamlet of Fort Resolution.
Mr. Beaulieu will continue the work to stabilize operations and address the challenges that the Hamlet has faced. The community has been under Administration since June 5, 2023 in an exceptional measure deemed necessary to address financial and operational challenges.

The proposed Plan Review Appeals Board Regulations will govern the process to appeal plan review orders issued by the Office of the Fire Marshal.
Updated Code Adoption Regulations
The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) would like to congratulate the winners of the 2024 “Be Ready: Emergency Preparedness Starts at Home” Photo Contest.
Now more than ever, it is important for all of us to be as prepared as possible for emergencies and disasters. All Northwest Territories residents are encouraged to take the following steps to be ready for a potential emergency:
Check against delivery
Mr. Speaker, today I would like to highlight a successful initiative that the Department of Municipal and Community Affairs is supporting to remove hazardous waste from solid waste sites in communities across the Northwest Territories.
Check against delivery
Mr. Speaker, as we face another season of floods and wildfires, I understand that many communities and residents are concerned about the potential for disaster events. We have experienced a series of unprecedented disasters over the past four years, and as the snow melts, we are seeing dramatic changes to our landscape as a result of record low water levels.
On May 8, 2024 at 9:55 a.m. MST, the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) will send out a test alert through various platforms. Residents may see and hear the public alert test on wireless devices, cable networks, and radio stations across the Northwest Territories (NWT).
