Mr. Speaker, I would like to offer our sincere thanks to the many people and groups who were involved in the 2018 Arctic Winter Games held in the South Slave Region from March 18 to March 24. 

I acknowledge Mr. Greg Rowe, President of the Arctic Winter Games Host Society, his dedicated Board of Directors and staff, whose efforts over many months resulted in the delivery of a very successful Games.  All Northwest Territories’ residents should be proud. 

Yellowknife, le 24 mai 2018 – Alfred Moses, ministre des Affaires municipales et communautaires, remettra aujourd’hui les Prix du bénévole remarquable des Territoires du Nord-Ouest (TNO) pour 2018 lors d’une cérémonie organisée à Yellowknife. Cette année encore, nous profitons de cette occasion pour remercier des bénévoles et des organisations pour leur précieuse contribution à l’essor de nos collectivités, partout aux TNO.

Les lauréats de l’édition 2018 des Prix du bénévole remarquable des TNO sont :

Yellowknife, le 7 mai 2018 – Le 9 mai 2018, à 13 h 55, le gouvernement des Territoires du Nord-Ouest (GTNO) procédera à un essai en temps réel du système En alerte TNO, le système d’alerte au public des Territoires du Nord-Ouest (TNO). Les résidents pourront voir et entendre l’alerte au public sur leur cellulaire, les stations de radio et les chaînes de télévision câblées, partout aux TNO.

Yellowknife, le 25 avril 2018 – Le ministre des Affaires municipales et communautaires Alfred Moses a annoncé aujourd’hui l’appel de demandes de financement annuel au titre du Fonds de stabilisation des ONG 2018.

Le Fonds de stabilisation des ONG offre une aide financière particulière aux organisations non gouvernementales (ONG) qui fournissent au public des programmes ou des services de première nécessité financés par le GTNO pour renforcer et accroître leur capacité de gestion.

Mr. Speaker, it is my pleasure to provide Members with information on the 2018 Arctic Winter Games, which are being hosted from March 18 to March 24 in the South Slave Region.

The Northwest Territories has been an active participant in the Arctic Winter Games since their inception in 1970.  These games are an important celebration of sport and culture for youth from the circumpolar region. We are proud to host the 2018 Games, and we are even more proud of Team NT who will be representing the Northwest Territories.

Mr. Speaker, I would like to update Members on the progress community governments and the Department of Municipal and Community Affairs have made on implementation of the Northwest Territories Asset Management Strategy.

Mr. Speaker, one of our government’s mandate commitments is to implement online delivery of a community government training curriculum to build the capacity of community governments. I would like to inform Members about the Department of Municipal and Community Affairs’ progress in the development and implementation of web-based training opportunities for community governments.

Mr. Speaker,   today, I rise as the Minister responsible for Sport to congratulate three prominent athletes, all with ties to the Northwest Territories, who are competing for Canada at the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.   On behalf of the Government of the Northwest Territories, and all of our residents, I am proud to speak today about Brendan Green, Jesse Cockney, and Kevin Koe.
