Mr. Speaker, today I am pleased to provide an update on the Department of Municipal and Community Affairs’ progress on our mandate commitment to develop and implement a Northwest Territories Physical Activity Strategy. This strategy will promote community wellness and encourage individuals and families to lead healthy lifestyles through the promotion of physical activity.

Mr. Speaker, today I would like to highlight and celebrate the 2018 inductees into the Northwest Territories Sport Hall of Fame.
The Northwest Territories Sport Hall of Fame was created to honour athletes, coaches, officials and contributors to sport from all parts of our society. Sponsored by the Sport North Federation, the Hall of Fame shares the history and the impact of our greatest contributors to sport.
Mr. Speaker, the Department of Municipal and Community Affairs is working to improve emergency management in the Northwest Territories so that we can better serve communities and help ensure the safety and security of residents.
Yellowknife, le 24 septembre 2018 – L’Organisation de gestion des urgences (OGU) des Territoires du Nord-Ouest coordonne la participation du gouvernement des Territoires du Nord-Ouest (GTNO) à l’opération NANOOK – TATIGIIT 2018 (opération Nanook), un exercice annuel des Forces armées canadiennes. Cette année, des exercices sont prévus du 24 au 28 septembre, dans la région du Slave Nord.

Mr. Speaker, I would like to offer our sincere thanks to the many people and groups who were involved in the 2018 Arctic Winter Games held in the South Slave Region from March 18 to March 24.
I acknowledge Mr. Greg Rowe, President of the Arctic Winter Games Host Society, his dedicated Board of Directors and staff, whose efforts over many months resulted in the delivery of a very successful Games. All Northwest Territories’ residents should be proud.

Cette année encore, nous profitons de cette occasion pour remercier des bénévoles et des organisations pour leur précieuse contribution à l’essor de nos collectivités, partout aux TNO.

Yellowknife, le 7 mai 2018 – Le 9 mai 2018, à 13 h 55, le gouvernement des Territoires du Nord-Ouest (GTNO) procédera à un essai en temps réel du système En alerte TNO, le système d’alerte au public des Territoires du Nord-Ouest (TNO). Les résidents pourront voir et entendre l’alerte au public sur leur cellulaire, les stations de radio et les chaînes de télévision câblées, partout aux TNO.
