Shane Thompson: Arctic Winter Games 2023 and Canada Winter Games

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize the athletes, coaches, managers, and mission staff who represented Team Northwest Territories, better known as Team NT, at the 2023 Arctic Winter Games recently held in Wood Buffalo, Alberta. I also want to acknowledge those who are representing Team NT at the upcoming 2023 Canada Winter Games in Prince Edward Island, scheduled from February 18 to March 5.

The Office of Client Experience offers a centralized point of contact for individuals to provide feedback, make a complaint, or ask any questions they have regarding the health and social services system.

Le gouvernement des Territoires du Nord-Ouest (GTNO) accepte actuellement les demandes au titre du Programme mentor-apprenti (PMA).

Ce dernier est une méthode d’apprentissage des langues autochtones par laquelle une personne parlant couramment une de ces langues (le mentor) l’enseigne à un apprenant motivé (l’apprenti) dans un environnement d’immersion, c’est-à-dire « en vivant dans la langue ».

Les artistes sont invités à présenter une demande de subvention au Conseil des arts

Le Conseil des arts du gouvernement des Territoires du Nord-Ouest (GTNO) accepte actuellement les demandes de financement d’artistes et d’organisations qui souhaitent réaliser un projet ou un événement en lien avec les arts visuels, la littérature, les arts médiatiques ou de la scène aux Territoires du Nord-Ouest entre avril 2023 et mars 2024.

Le financement maximal pour les projets proposés est de 15 000 $, et les fonds doivent être dépensés au plus tard le 31 mars 2024.

This month, let us celebrate the territory’s nine Indigenous languages and learn about the important role language revitalization plays in advancing reconciliation in a real and meaningful way.

Shane Thompson: Advancing the Conservation Network in the Northwest Territories

Mr. Speaker, this government is committed to working with Indigenous governments and Indigenous organizations on conservation in the Northwest Territories. 

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources has spent the last three years implementing establishment agreements, drafting site-specific regulations, and establishing management boards for existing territorial protected areas, Thaidene Nene and Ts’ude Nilįné Tuyeta.

Paulie Chinna: Energy Management Strategy and Blueprint

Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to inform this House that the draft NWT Energy Management Strategy is out for public feedback until February 21, 2023.  

This strategic approach will support both Housing NWT’s energy goals and objectives, as well the strategic objectives of the GNWT’s 2030 Energy Strategy, and a long-term view towards guiding energy management decisions and investments. The strategy will also support skills training, economic development opportunities and more reliable and sustainable energy systems for Housing NWT.
