Mr. Speaker, I would like to welcome my colleagues back to the house for the final session of the 19^th Legislative Assembly. Many of us have been through at least one evacuation since we last met in person, and I am grateful you are all safe.

For many NWT residents, you have recently returned home from a very long evacuation. Some residents have lost homes and businesses.  For students, this is yet another disruption to their school year.

The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is making grant funding available to support events that commemorate the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30, 2023.

This initiative provides special, application-based grant funding up to $2,500 to support Indigenous governments, and Indigenous organizations and communities to plan and deliver National Day for Truth and Reconciliation events in locations across the Northwest Territories.

The Government of Nunavut has committed to donating $250,000 to the United Way Northwest Territories (NWT) Emergency Response Fund to support residents impacted by wildfire.

Premier Caroline Cochrane, Minister Shane Thompson, Minister Julie Green, a representative from the City of Yellowknife and program experts from several GNWT departments will be available to answer questions.
