New one-time funding is available in the Sahtu and Beaufort Delta to help businesses and Indigenous and community governments offset the increased costs of shipping essential goods and services.
The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) announced the completion of the construction phase of the Hay River Fish Plant. The event concluded the GNWT’s commitment towards the official opening and operation of the plant as part of the Strategy for Revitalizing the Great Slave Lake Commercial Fishery.
Due to fire danger in the region, a fire ban has been put into effect for Fort Simpson Territorial Park, prohibiting open fires. The ban, which is in addition to any regional fire bans in place by NWT Fire, is effective immediately until August 16, 2024.
Camp stoves, enclosed BBQs and propane-fueled cooking and heating devices are permitted for use in NWT Parks. They must be placed within regulation fire pits and should not emit a flame more than 0.5 metres in diameter and 0.5 metres in height.
Due to fire danger in the region, fire bans have been put into effect for all NWT Parks in the South Slave region, prohibiting open fires.
The bans, which are in addition to any regional fire bans in place by NWT Fire, are effective immediately until August 7, 2024 for the following NWT Parks:

Due to increasing fire danger in proximity to the park, a temporary closure has been put into effect for Little Buffalo River Crossing Territorial Park near Fort Resolution.
