Due to fire danger in the region, existing fire bans prohibiting open fires in NWT Parks in the North Slave region have been extended until August 7, 2024, and expanded to include all parks in the region. These bans are in addition to regional fire bans in place by NWT Fire.
The following parks have been added to these fire bans:

The bans, which are in addition to any regional fire bans in place by NWT Fire, are effective 5:00pm today until August 2, 2024 for the following NWT Parks:
Due to fire danger in the region, a fire ban has been put into effect for NWT Parks around Yellowknife, prohibiting open fires.
The ban, which is in addition to any regional fire bans in place by NWT Fire, is effective from July 19, 2024 until August 2, 2024 for the following NWT Parks:
Due to fire danger in the region, a fire ban has been put into effect for Little Buffalo River Falls Territorial Park near Fort Smith, prohibiting open fires. The ban, which is in addition to any regional fire bans in place by NWT Fire, is effective immediately and will remain in place until July 30, 2024.
Due to increasing fire danger in proximity to the park, a temporary closure has been put into effect for Little Buffalo River Crossing Territorial Park near Fort Resolution.
Due to fire danger in the region, a fire ban has been put into effect for Queen Elizabeth Territorial Park in Fort Smith, prohibiting open fires. The ban, which is in addition to any regional fire bans in place by NWT Fire, is effective immediately and will remain in place until July 30, 2024.
Camp stoves, enclosed barbeques, and propane-fueled cooking and heating devices are permitted for use in NWT Parks, but must be placed within regulation fire pits and should not emit a flame more than 0.5 metres in diameter and 0.5 metres in height.
