Starting October 13, 2024, fees for various tenant services at the Yellowknife Airport (YZF) will increase.

This includes services such as maintenance, first aid and extinguisher training and airside driver operator permit testing. The changes will also apply to fines for lost keys and passes, as well as float plane escort and docking services. In most cases, tenants have the option to either use YZF services or contract them out.

This initiative provides special, application-based grant funding up to $2,500 to support Indigenous governments, and Indigenous organizations and communities to plan and deliver National Day for Truth and Reconciliation events in locations across the Northwest Territories.

With the new school year just around the corner, a new Back to School safety campaign is being launched to enhance the safety of NWT children as they return to school.

There’s a lot on the line is the new campaign that includes safety tips and reminders of road rules, particularly around schools.  Messaging targeting distracted driving, crosswalk safety, child car seat restraints, school zones and school bus safety will be highlighted throughout the campaign. Each of these areas will have graphics and messages that are clear, straightforward, and easy to understand.

The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) and the Sport North Federation are now accepting applications for the 2024-2025 High Performance Athlete Grant.

The High Performance Athlete Grant provides funding for high performance athletes from the Northwest Territories to assist with costs associated with training and competing in their chosen sport. The funding level for each recipient is based on athletic achievement and recognition at the national or international level.
