The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is now accepting new applications for the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program (EVIP). This funding supports the installation of EV charging stations in public places, workplaces, multi-unit residential buildings, and for light-duty fleet use across the Northwest Territories.
The Government of the Northwest Territories has launched the School Health Promotion Fund (SHPF) to support health and wellness activities in NWT schools.
The new fund replaces the long-running Drop the Pop initiative, which supported schools for 17 years. The SHPF provides up to $5,000 per school to support projects that encourage healthy choices, build life skills, and share knowledge at school, at home, and in the community.

The theme for Test Your Smoke Alarm Day, observed every year, is “Saved by the Beep.”
Housing NWT has released its second update on the progress of the Housing NWT Renewal Strategy. This marks an important step in its commitment to increasing access to affordable housing for Northwest Territories (NWT) residents and making more homes for Northerners.
Since the launch of its renewed mandate in 2022, Housing NWT has completed 31 of the 42 actions. Eight actions are still in progress, and three are ongoing. Housing NWT is pleased to report that all actions are expected to be completed during the 20th Legislative Assembly.

The report offers a comprehensive overview of forest health conditions throughout the territory. It highlights the significant impacts of prolonged drought and notes a general decline in forest insect and disease activity compared to previous years.
The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is proposing to create a new Trespass Act and gathering public feedback on the development of trespass legislation.
Currently, all provinces have trespass to property legislation in place covering private lands in general, however, the three territories do not.

The GNWT launched the Northwest Territories (NWT) Outstanding Volunteer Awards program in 1991 to recognize the great contributions volunteers make to the quality of life in the NWT.
Nominations are accepted in four categories: Youth (under 25), Individual (25-54), Elder (55+) and Group.
