Le GTNO annonce les projets retenus par le Fonds anti pauvreté

 

YELLOWKNIFE, le 2 mai 2018 – Le ministre de la Santé et des Services sociaux, Glen Abernethy, a annoncé les 43 projets locaux de lutte contre la pauvreté retenus par le gouvernement des Territoires du Nord-Ouest (GTNO) pour l’exercice 2018‑2019. Par l’intermédiaire du Fonds anti‑pauvreté, il investira donc plus de un million de dollars dans ces initiatives communautaires et autochtones.

Today we are announcing an investment for all Northwest Territories residents.

This investment has provided  $1.25 million over 3 years, to assist communities with projects that improve mental health and to support mental wellness teams.

Glen Abernethy: Services for Seniors

Mr. Speaker, the Government of the Northwest Territories has made a commitment in its mandate to support our Seniors to live in their own homes for as long as possible while ensuring adequate supports when they can no longer do so. I would like to provide an update on our continued efforts to make this commitment a reality.

As Members know, the government put in place a Strategic Framework, Our Elders Our Communities, which supports a comprehensive approach to meeting the needs of our Seniors.

Yellowknife, le 9 mars 2018 – Le Collège Aurora et le ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS) organisent une foire sur la santé pour les personnes âgées au Centre Square Mall à l’occasion du mois national de la sensibilisation au cancer colorectal, le mardi 13 mars, entre 13 h et 16 h.

Un côlon géant de 20 pieds de longueur sera présenté lors de l’événement. Nous convions le public à venir voir le côlon géant et d’autres présentations des étudiants en soins infirmiers de première année et du personnel du ministère.

Glen Abernethy: Community Wellness Initiatives

Mr. Speaker, the Government of the Northwest Territories has a mandate commitment to foster healthy families by focusing on wellness, prevention and improved nutrition.

To achieve this commitment, the Department of Health and Social Services has made it a priority to support Community Wellness Initiatives in communities across the NWT with funding provided through Indigenous Services Canada.

Glen Abernethy: Progress Update on Building Stronger Families

Mr. Speaker, in October 2014, I tabled in this House, Building Stronger Families: An Action Plan to Transform Child and Family Services. I am pleased to provide an update on our accomplishments on the action plan.

The goal of Building Stronger Families is to improve the quality of child and family services offered by our government, with a view to achieving better outcomes for children and families when they receive services under the Child and Family Services Act.
