Help Shape the Future of Midwifery Regulation in the NWT

The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is seeking input from midwives, stakeholders, and the public on the proposed key elements of the Midwifery Profession Regulations.

These regulations would modernize how midwifery is regulated in the NWT by bringing the profession under the Health and Social Services Professions Act (HSSPA). This Act supports consistent rules for licensing, registration, and professional accountability for health and social services professions.

Highlights of the proposal include:

Appointment of Municipal Administrator in Enterprise

Housing NWT Adjusts Market Rental Rates for Sustainable and Equitable Housing

The GNWT has updated the rent scale for Market Rental Units. Notices are currently being sent to tenants in market housing units by May 1st outlining a 90-day notice of rent increase. Market rental rates remained stable since 2012, however recent years of sustained inflation now necessitates an adjustment in line with current market conditions and to reflect operating costs. These rent adjustments will help to equalize the market rate gaps in communities where market conditions require private landlords and developers to charge higher rates.
