New campaign emphasizes personal evaluation of risk as we adapt to life post-COVID-19 pandemic

The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is launching a new campaign focused on residents learning to live with COVID-19 as we adapt to a new normal.

Starting today, Setting Your COVID-19 Safety Nets will promote how layers of protection outlined in Emerging Wisely 2021 can work together to reduce risk so we can continue to protect ourselves and our communities from the virus.

Tourism Marketing and Infrastructure Programs Open for Applications

YELLOWKNIFE (December 1, 2021) – As part of its ongoing support for tourism marketing and infrastructure programming, the Government of the Northwest Territories’ (GNWT) Tourism Product Diversification and Marketing Program (TPDMP) and the Community Tourism Infrastructure Contribution (CTIC) program are officially open for submissions.

GNWT launching credited NWT hunter education course for high school students

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) and the Department of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE) are pleased to announce the launch of a credited “Hunter Education” course for high school students in the Northwest Territories (NWT). This course will provide new hunters with the fundamental knowledge and basic skills needed for them to become respectful and safe hunters.

GNWT Announces Changes to Trade Entrance Requirements

Effective January 2022, the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) will be amending the Trade Entrance Requirements.

Each designated trade in the Northwest Territories (NWT) has specific educational requirements that prospective apprentices must meet before signing an apprenticeship contract.  The Trades Entrance Requirements require one of three options: the completion of specific high school courses; a mark of 70% or higher in the Trades Entrance Exam; or completion of all five Canadian General Educational Development (GED) tests.

Bookkeeping Initiative Relaunched for NWT Businesses

Today the Government of Northwest Territories (GNWT) announced the relaunch of its successful bookkeeping initiative to support businesses in accessing financial planning advice.

Eligible businesses can apply for up to $7,500 or 90 per cent of the actual cost for obtaining the financial and technical advice required to allow them to make informed investment decisions, and better position themselves for sustainability and growth.

GNWT launches new eServices portal

Today, the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) launched a new online portal to provide NWT residents an additional point of access for government programs and services.

This secure portal will help to ensure that people are able to access a wider variety of programs and services online using a single account. The eServices portal is safe, secure, and private. Robust security measures are in place, and personal information is protected.

2020-2021 Annual Report of the Director of Child and Family Services Released

The Minister of Health and Social Services, Julie Green, tabled the 2020-2021 Annual Report of the Director of Child and Family Services today in the Legislative Assembly. The Annual Report provides a summary of data on the delivery of services under the NWT’s Child and Family Services Act, Adoption Act, Custom Adoption Recognition Act, and the federal government’s Act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis children, youth, and families.
