GNWT Open Engagement Portal Launched

The Government of the Northwest Territories has launched a Public Engagement Web Portal.

Available through the GNWT’s website (www.gov.nt.ca/engagements), this online resource will be the main location for all public engagement opportunities with the territorial government. The purpose of the portal is to provide NWT residents easier access to information related to public engagement sessions and to allow residents of the NWT an improved opportunity to have their voices heard.

GNWT and Kátł’odeeche Fırst Natıon celebrate Kátł’odeh Bridge Opening Ceremony

The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) and Kátł'odeeche First Nation (KFN) are pleased to announce the official opening ceremony of the Kátł’odeh Bridge, on Highway 5 just east of the Town of Hay River and south of the Hay River Dene Reserve.  Kátł’odeh means ‘willow grass river’ in Dene Yati and refers to the Hay River.

Today, Chief April Martel, and Diane Archie, Minister of Infrastructure, declared the bridge open with drum prayers and a ribbon cutting.

Addictions Recovery and Aftercare Fund

The GNWT’s Department of Health and Social Services is now accepting applications for the new Addictions Recovery and Aftercare Fund.

The Addictions Recovery and Aftercare Fund will provide funding to Indigenous Governments and community organizations to hire community-based counsellors. These counsellors will  support individuals living in recovery from addictions and/or support community-based addictions recovery and aftercare programming.

MTS expands sailing route to locations in East Arm

Marine Transportation Services (MTS) will extend service throughout the East Arm of Great Slave Lake during the 2021 shipping season.

For the summer 2021 season, MTS will extend the Hay River to Łutselk’e route to include visits to Fort Reliance and Hoarfrost in McLeod Bay, providing a cargo solution for residents, local tourism operators and other businesses that operate in the East Arm.

These new stops have been added in response to the recent closure of East Arm Freighting.

Points of service may be added depending on cargo bookings.
