GNWT partners with Sunrise Healing Lodge to offer Indigenous addictions treatment options for residents

The GNWT is pleased to announce a partnership with the Sunrise Healing Lodge, an Indigenous addictions treatment facility in Calgary. Sunrise Healing Lodge offers a wide range of Indigenous programming for addictions treatment.

Sunrise Healing Lodge is open to individuals from various backgrounds and incorporates Indigenous culture, spirituality, and the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous into its treatment approach.  Residents can benefit from a 14-week Treatment Program, which includes cultural teachings, sharing circles, educational sessions, and guest presentations.

Minister R.J. Simpson approves request by Aurora College to begin process to become a polytechnic university

R.J. Simpson, Minister of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE) has approved a request by Aurora College to begin the process to become a polytechnic university. He has also directed his department to initiate the quality assurance process with Campus Alberta Quality Council.

Marine Transportation Services adjusts sailing schedule and transportation plans for 2023 season

The Marine Transportation Services (MTS) sailing schedule and transportation plans for the 2023 sailing season are being adjusted due to very low water levels on the Mackenzie River.

Low water levels, particularly near the ramparts south of Fort Good Hope, could make certain sections of the Mackenzie River impassable for MTS tugs and barges sailing out of its main terminal in Hay River.
