YELLOWKNIFE (March 12, 2019)—The Government of the Northwest Territories has released its employee guide to support a common and consistent approach to public engagement planning, implementation and reporting.

The Public Engagement Employee Guide reflects the best practices model created by the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2), which is an international association that seeks to promote and improve public engagement practice. The Guide also builds on the shared expertise and experience of GNWT employees.

Caroline Cochrane, Minister of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE), today launched the Postsecondary Education Visioning Survey and invites all residents of the NWT to participate in this important process.

The Government Response to the Aurora College Foundational Review committed to establishing a vision for postsecondary education in the NWT -- a common vision to guide future decision-making around education after high school.

Resource development remains the principal driver of the Northwest Territories economy. This is why the Government of Canada is investing $5.1M in two projects that will support resource development in the Slave Geological Province (SGP).

YELLOWKNIFE (February 10, 2019) - After two days of mediation convened by Mediator Vince Ready, the Government of the Northwest Territories and the Union of Northern Workers have not reached a tentative agreement.

However, the parties have agreed to submit their outstanding issues to Mr. Ready for binding recommendations.

Minister of Justice Louis Sebert announced today the appointment of Donovan Frederick Molloy, Q.C., as the new judge of the Territorial Court of the Northwest Territories. This appointment will be effective February 20, 2019.

Mr. Molloy graduated with distinction from the Law program at University of New Brunswick in 1992, and was called to the Bar in Newfoundland and Labrador in 1993.

Finance Minister Robert C. McLeod presented the 2019‑20 Budget, continuing the fiscal plan to carefully manage spending under difficult fiscal challenges. Budget 2019 proposes $1.873 billion in spending to support the priorities of the Assembly and strengthen existing programs.
